Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce a newly remastered edition of the 1987 album by BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST, "Glasnost”. The album was recorded at Treptower Park, East Berlin on 14th July 1987 at a time of great change in Eastern Europe, prior to the reunification of Germany.
The concert was one of the first by a Western rock band in East Germany and was a major event, seeing the band play to an estimated 175,000 people.
This Esoteric Recordings reissue has been expanded to include the full concert in the original set running order and has been newly remastered from the original master tapes, and features a booklet that fully restores all original album artwork with a new essay by BJH experts Keith and Monika Domone.

The subsequent European tour saw BJH play to some of the largest audiences of their career, a highlight of which was an appearance at Wembley Arena in London in October, tracks from which comprise CD 2 of this expanded edition.

The album was recorded soon after the band’s legendary concert on the steps of the Reichstag in Berlin in 1980 and includes the emotive ‘In Memory of the Martyrs’ and the hit single ‘Life is for Living’ which featured at the famous Concert for the People. Enlarge this picture! Recorded over two tours in 1976 and 1977, 'Live Tapes' was released as Barclay James Harvest were on the ascendant. Following on the heels of their Platinum selling album 'Gone to Earth', a huge hit in Germany and a top thirty album in the UK, 'Live Tapes' offered versions of songs from the album such as ‘Poor Man's Moody Blues' and ‘Hymn' alongside live selections from albums such as 'Time Honoured Ghosts' and 'Octoberon'. This collection also adds three bonus tracks not released on the original double album, ‘Medicine Man', ‘The World Goes On' and ‘Hymn for the Children', Released to coincide with a series of British concerts by John Lees' Barclay James Harvest, this album makes a much welcomed appearance on CD once more and joins the release of an expanded 'Barclay James Harvest Live' on Esoteric Recordings this month.

Perhaps the finest hour of Barclay James Harvest came with this live album recorded in 1974 on the tour to promote the release of their first album for Polydor, 'Everyone is Everybody Else'. The live set features all of their classic tracks such as ‘Mockingbird', ‘Summer Soldier', ‘Medicine Man', ‘She Said' and ‘For No One'. The record was the band's first UK chart album and is constantly cited in internet polls as the group's finest album. Released to coincide with a series of British concerts by John Lees' Barclay James Harvest, this album makes a much welcomed appearance on CD once more and joins the release of an expanded 'Live Tapes' on Esoteric Recordings this month.
