Enlarge this picture! Esoteric recordings announce the release of a newly Remastered and expanded edition of this acclaimed album by Pierre Moerlen’s Gong. By the late 1970s percussionist Pierre Moerlen had taken over the leadership of Gong and had Steered the band away from psychedelic space rock and took the band into a jazz rock direction, one in which the band Excelled. After recording several albums with virgin, Moerlen signed with Arista Records in 1978. Following the albums Downwind , Time Is The Key and Live (also available on Esoteric), Moerlen’s band recorded. This classic final album with Hansford Rowe on bass and Bon Lozaga on guitar.

Following the albums Downwind and Time Is The Key (also available on Esoteric), Moerlen’s Band recorded this classic live album. With Hansford Rowe on bass and Bon Lozaga on guitar. The live recordings also saw saxophonist and flautist Didier Malherbe contribute along with special guest Mike Oldfield.

After recording several albumswith VIRGIN, Moerlen signed with Arista Records in 1978.Following the album DOWNWIND (also issued by ESOTERIC this month), Moerlen assembled a new band featuring Hansford Rowe on bass and Bon Lozaga on guitar. This band entered The Kinks KONK studios to record TIME IS THE KEY , a fine album that featured guest appearances by guitarist ALLAN HOLDSWORTH and Curved Air violinist DARRYL WAY.

After recording several albums with VIRGIN, with the band now featured Hansford Rowe on bass, Ross Record on guitar, Benoit Moerlen on vibes and Francois Causse on percussion. Moerlen signed with Arista Records in 1978 and recorded this excellent album partially in Mike Oldfield’s studio. Oldfield guested on the superb lengthy title track with fellow guest Steve Winwood, whilst Mick Taylor appeared on the Tracks.
