Genesis (2CD) progressive

Enlarge this picture! Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce a newly remastered edition of the debut album by THE GODS. Formed in Hatfield in 1965 by future Rolling Stones guitarist MICK TAYLOR, the band also featured KEN HENSLEY (keyboards, guitar, vocals), JOHN GLASCOCK (bass, vocals), JOE KONAS (guitar, vocals) and LEE KERSLAKE (drums). Originally a blues based band, in 1967 Mick Taylor departed to join JOHN MAYALL’S BLUESBREAKERS and during this period GREG LAKE joined the band briefly, replacing John Glascock on bass. By 1968 the band had signed to EMI’s Columbia label and had settled into a line-up that saw John Glascock return to the band. By this time The Gods had embraced both Psychedelia and Progressive styles. "Genesis” was a fine album and is now rightly hailed as a classic of the late Psychedelic and early Progressive era.
This Esoteric Recordings expanded reissue includes the original stereo and mono mixes of the album (the first time the mono mix has appeared on CD), along with four bonus tracks comprising the A & B sides of the band’s singles of the time. These includes The Gods’ cover version of The Beatles’ ‘Hey Bulldog’ and their original classic ‘Real Love Guaranteed’. The reissue has been newly re-mastered from the original EMI master tapes and includes a booklet that fully restores the original album artwork and a new essay.
