András Dés, the engine of the disc, reacts with extraordinary sensitivity and dynamism to the playing of his peers, thinking of larger arcs, wrapping the rhythms in the background of each solo. The compositions of Oláh, who notes all ten themes, almost soar with János Ávéd. Ávéd’s soft, restrained playing, even if it doesn’t create too much tension, is natural and self-evident, breathing along with the harmonious dynamism of the music all the time, whether he plays on a tenor or soprano instrument.
