In The Shadow
(Árnyékban)
jazz world music

Enlarge this picture! In the shadow
Being in the shadow is as much for me
as it is not in the rivalry, the constant
rumble, the chatter ... Watching,
contemplating, acting in the cool of the shadows .
It's in the shadows!
(Mihály Dresch)

Shadow
I draw my shadow behind me.
It rubs against the asphalt, though it should swallow,
not wear it out prematurely.
Don’t break the love affair that connects you
to the world below and above. Until.
As long as you can.
(Attila Jász)

"For Mihály Dresch, music and life have always formed an organic and intense unity, which is why it is natural for him that the sounds that emerge from within are basically adhering to, drawing from and adding to his homeland, the wider environment.
Unlike the waist army of domestic jazz musicians, he never sought to make mainstream American music as faithful as possible, but to fill its forms of expression with the traditions of his own culture, primarily folk music. He did not try to knock on black music imported from overseas, for good or bad, but built from within.
In his own words, on the "majestic" fire burning in him, the tensioner wanted to master the inner energies and mold them into shape. Throughout his life, he has strived to make it clear that one can love the purest jazz music and the original folk music at the same time. It can be modern and Hungarian at the same time."
