Hateha! - Táncházi slágerek folk

Enlarge this picture! "In the early 1970's a new trend in the Hungarian folk music movement emerged in the "táncház" venues (folk dance house clubs). Old-style prowess, heavily ornamented, yet unrefined archaic melodies of the Hungarian villages of Transylvania dominated the music scene of early táncház clubs - initially the music of the Transylvanian Mezőség and from within the same region the unique music of the somewhat isolated community of Szék. Later the more refined intricate yet powerful elegance of the Kalotaszeg region took the táncház by storm. This new release is a compilation of these three music cultures - not new, never-before-heard tunes that have since been unearthed, but on the contrary, those well-known "evergreen" melodies of the initial táncház era - a nostalgic tribute to those revolutionary times." - The Fonó Group
