The World Premiere Digital Recording of the Score Composed by Anton Karas
Filmed in 1949, in post-war Vienna, The Third Man starring Orson Welles, Joseph Cotton and Trevor Howard is the ultimate film-noir/mystery film. The memorable zither score composed by Anton Karas masterfully conjures the Austrian ambience – the street corners, the sidewalk cafés, the former grandeur of Vienna lying in bomb damaged rubble.
Karas’ score has been brought back to life through the musical skills of the talented Bavarian zither artist Gertrud Zuber. This album features the first ever digital recording of the acclaimed ‘Harry Lime Theme’.
• Enhanced CD – with bonus video of Gertrud Huber performing ’The Harry Lime Theme’ and CD booklet with extensive notes and film stills
• Extra Orchestral versions of ‘The Harry Lime Theme’ and ‘The Café Mozart Waltz’ performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra
